About & Contact

THE LIONS MOTTO :: We Serve. Imagine a group of like-minded neighbors helping veterans suffering from PTSD; providing used eye glasses to children and people in need all around the world; putting on day camps for kids with diabetes; raising up 650 American flags all around Lacey for the holidays; building wheel chair ramps for people in need, and many more projects (see Links & Programs). The whole motto is To serve the community and those less fortunate than ourselves. And our second motto is Kindness Matters.

LIONS is the global leader in Humanitarian Service. Nationally, Lions are best known for fighting blindness, but locally, we are involved in many charitable and service projects. See our Events webpage for a list of what we do each year. GIVE SIGHT — We conduct vision screening in schools, support the Lacey Eyeglass Recycling Center and the SightFirst Program, which works to eradicate blindness. SERVE YOUTH — we provide four $1,000 scholarships to Thurston County seniors. Lions LEO programs provide youth with opportunities for personal development through volunteering. There are 144,000 LEOs in 140 countries. AWARD GRANTS — Since 1968, Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) has awarded more than $700 million in grants to support Lions humanitarian projects. In 2007, Financial Times determined that LCIF was the number one non-governmental organization. During disasters, LCIF and Lions help their communities by providing much needed items like food, water, clothing, medical supplies and aide in long-term construction. LIONS ARE ACTIVE — Join us as we serve your community.

THURSDAY MEETINGS We meet over breakfast 7:30 to 8:30 at Capital Christian Center (College and Martin Way), but also on Zoom. Club secretary automatically sends zoom link to members. Please address questions to the club Secretary [email protected].

A BRIEF HISTORY In November 11, 1975, Olympia Host sponsored the formation of Lacey Sunrise Lions. Interestingly, when the club started, it met for breakfast at Panorama’s restaurant. When they started, they raised funds by selling Christmas trees, a pancake breakfast, and oyster shell candle sales. They provided a community health fair, held CPR classes, vision screening at schools, the used eye glass program, mobile hearing screening, assistance to Boy Scout Troop 210, White Cane days for the vision impaired, and the Lion’s Youth Exchange Program.
